Managing Our Edmonton Development: Staying on Track as We Near Completion
As we move a few months away from completing our Edmonton development, it’s exciting to see everything coming together exactly as planned. Development projects are complex by nature, but with the right systems, communication, and planning in place, they can move forward smoothly—and that’s exactly what we’re experiencing on this project.
From the outset, our focus has been on setting the project up for success. One of the most important factors has been clearly understanding timelines and costs. By having a detailed construction schedule and a realistic budget early on, we’ve been able to anticipate milestones, manage expectations, and avoid unnecessary surprises.
Another key component has been our financing team, which ensures timely draws throughout construction. Having this process dialed in keeps momentum strong on site and allows our building team to work efficiently without delays related to cash flow.
Speaking of the build team, frequent communication with our Edmonton construction partners has been essential. Regular check-ins, updates, and proactive problem-solving help ensure everyone stays aligned and small issues are addressed before they become larger ones.
We also made it a priority to finalize design choices early. Selecting finishes, fixtures, and materials ahead of time has helped us avoid delays caused by shipping or supply chain issues—something that’s especially important in today’s construction environment.
Equally important has been early coordination with our property management team. By working together on access details, lock systems, and operational logistics well before completion, we’re setting the stage for a seamless transition from construction to leasing.
What’s Next
We’re now entering one of the most exciting phases of the project: interior completion. Over the coming weeks, the focus will be on:
Installing backsplashes and countertops in all units
Completing lighting installations
Installing appliances
Conducting a full, fresh clean of the property
Once these final touches are in place, the building will be ready to market.
Our property manager is fully prepared to begin leasing as soon as construction is complete, which marks the next major stage of this development. It’s always rewarding to see a project transition from plans and construction into a living, income-producing property.
We’re proud of the progress so far and look forward to sharing more updates as we move into lease-up and completion.
